2013 Afcon: We don't want to be taken by surprise against Cape Verde - Maxwell Konadu

The Ghana assistant coach says the team is avoiding any form of complacency in order not to be surprised at the knockout stages of the 2013 Afcon
Ghana assistant coach Maxwell Konadu says they will be taking every game as a final match starting from the quarter-finals against Cape Verde.

The Black Stars will come face to face with the Islanders in Saturday's first quarter-finals at the Nelson Mandela Bay Stadium in Port Elizabeth.

The four-time African champions are tagged as tournament favourites while the debutants are in South Africa as the underdogs.

Konadu told Ghanafa.org they are focused on their preparations to avert any possible upset. “We will do our best to make sure that we are not taken by surprise," he said.

"Before we came here [South Africa], head coach Kwesi Appiah made it clear that all the teams that have qualified are good sides with an equal chance, There is no way we are going to underrate anybody. And I think that is what we are seeing here.”
