Kumasi Asante Kotoko and Burkina Faso goalkeeper Soulama Abdoulaye says he is focused on preparations towards the quarter-finals after hard times in recent days.
The Stallions' shot-stopper lost his dad on the same day he was sent off in Burkina Faso’s 4-0 thrashing of Ethiopia on Friday.
Abdoulaye was reported to have left the team’s camping base in South Africa but resolved to stay and gave his consent for his family back home to bury the dad on Sunday in accordance with Islamic rights.
The 33-year-old has put his difficult moments behind him and is already looking ahead to their game against Togo on Sunday after serving a suspension.
“I am eligible to play for my country again and for now we are preparing as a team. I think Daouda did very well against Zambia because we did not concede a goal, but we are supporting each other regardless of who plays in the next match,” he told Kumasi-based Fox FM.
