Kwesi Appiah: People will get to see the real Christian Atsu soon at 2013 Afcon
The Black Stars’ trainer is hopeful that the debutant would gel with the rhythm of the tournament in their next game against Mali on Thursday
Ghana coach Kwesi Appiah has said he believes Christian Atsu will still make an impact in the 2013 Africa Cup of Nations tournament in South Africa.Atsu, tipped as one of the youngsters to shine in the continental showpiece did little to impress against the Leopards of DR Congo.
The 20-year-old lasted 56 minutes of Ghana's first group game against coach Claude Le Roy’s side which ended 2-2 at the Nelson Mandela Bay Stadium.
Coach Appiah said he has spoken to the Porto player and he believes that can serve as a panacea for moral booster.
“Atsu didn't have a good game yesterday [Sunday], but for a player like him this is his first tournament and it happens but I believe as the tournament progresses people will get to see the real Atsu,” Appiah said.
