Just two days before DR Congo opens their 2013 Afcon account against Ghana, Le Roy has quit the team

The French coach Le Roy quit the national DR Congo team on Thursday night, after a financial dispute over player bonuses resulted in low morale. The players are reportedly backing the coaches decision, according to Nyota TV.

Le Roy is a highly successful coach in Africa having lifted the Afcon with Cameroon in 1988 and finished third with Ghana in 2008. His assistant Sebastian Migne also resigned. The state of the DR Congo camp is in chaos just two days before their 2013 Afcon opener against Ghana in Port Elizabeth.

Organization of team affairs off the pitch has been poor as the coach also had to chase around for player visas himself. Congo won the Africa Cup of Nations in 1968 and 1974, and for 2013 are in Group B with Ghana, Mali and Niger.
