Niger will shock Group B opponents - Goalkeeper Daouda Kassaly

The 29-year-old shot-stopper is cautioning Ghana, Mali and DR Congo, who are in the same group with them to rethink they are underdogs

Niger goalkeeper Daouda Kassaly has said his side will cause an upset in this year’s 2013 Africa Cup of Nations.

The Menas have to overcome the challenges in Group B which houses the likes of Ghana, Mali, and DR Congo.

The Chippa United shot-stopper who will be making his first Nations Cup appearance see his least fancied side going pass the group stages.

“Each of the teams stand an equal chance and we will fight to qualify to the next round,” Kassaly told Cafonline.

“Our focus is much different as we are better motivated now backed by the entire country, especially our President, Issoufou Mahamadou, who doled out a substantial financial support towards our preparations.”

Kassaly added: “Our strength has been the fighting spirit and unity of the team.

“Every player is motivated by the solidarity within the team. We also have an experience trainer in Gernot Rohr, who without his tactical knowledge could not have beaten Guinea to qualify for the 2013 Africa Cup of Nations tournament.”
