thumbnail Hello,

The ex-international of the west African football powerhouse is calling on his compatriots to pick all points in their opening game because that could prove the decider

Former Super Eagles winger Tijiani Babangida has hinted Nigeria's first game with Burkina Faso at the 2013 Afcon is very crucial as it can be the deciding factor in their campaign.

Babangida, who warned the 1994 African Champions, said the west Africans will have the shock of their lives if they underrate the physically strong Burkinabes.

“I have been following the Super Eagles for a long time now and I can tell you that I am really impressed with what the team has done so far,” the former Ajax Amsterdam player told Complete Sports.

“My only advice I can give them is that they should make sure that they win their opening game against the physically strong Stallions if they really want to make an impact in this tournament.”

Babangida said: “[Stephen] Keshi should make the players to understand what is at stake in every game they are going to play at the Nations Cup so that they will not say that they did not know why they have to win a particular match with certain number of goals just like we had during the qualifiers for last edition of the African Cup of Nations.”
