2013 Afcon: Black Stars train on Saturday in Abu Dhabi without Asamoah Gyan
The four-time African champions had 23 players in camp on Saturday for their first training session as Asamoah Gyan and Andres Ayew were absent for various reasons
Ghana set off to training on Saturday evening after arriving in Abu Dhabi, UAE for their pre-tournament camping ahead of the 2013 Africa Cup of Nations.The Black Stars captain Asamoah Gyan missed the first training session after he was granted permission to attend to urgent family matters. Olympique Marseille’s Andre Ayew was also absent as the injured midfielder was yet to arrive from his base in France.
Twenty-three players trained under the watch of head coach Kwesi Appiah and his assistants Maxwell Konadu and goalkeepers' trainer Nassam Yakubu.
The one-session was mainly shake-up and light ball work at the Zayad City Sports Complex where the 2009 and 2010 Club World Cups were held.
All the players took part in the training session.
The Black Stars will train in Abu Dhabi for 11 days before departing to South Africa for the tournament, which kicks off on January 19.
