MP & Silva has acquired all media rights to the Copa Libertadores, Copa Sudamericana and Copa do Brazil in Asia from 2015 to 2018.
The deal, announced on Wednesday, comes just days after the rights agency agreed a deal to sell the 2014 Copa Libertadores and Copa Sudamericana – South America’s leading two club soccer competitions – in a host of Asian territories.
The latest, much more wide-ranging, agreement covers those two competitions and Brazil’s leading domestic cup competition in all Asian territories except China, where MP & Silva holds the English language rights, across all platforms and devices.
The rights have been acquired from Traffic Sports, with negotiations assisted by FSA Media.
“We are very excited about extending our South American football offer in Asia until 2018,” said Andrea Radrizzani, a founding partner of MP & Silva. “Argentina, Brazil and Uruguay have a few of the best players in the world at the moment and some of those competitions are the only chance to see them playing each other.”
With the addition of Copa Libertadores, Copa Sudamericana and Copa do Brazil, MP & Silva has bolstered its South American soccer rights portfolio in Asia. It is also responsible for selling the 2018 Fifa World Cup qualifiers, the Brazileirao, Brazil Global Tour matches and the quadrennial Copa America national team tournament across the continent.
