The Colombian Football Federation (FCF) has agreed a new sponsorship deal with Allianz.
The Colombian arm of the German insurance giant will become the official insurer of the FCF’s representative teams in a contract that will run until 2014. The agreement has been struck with the senior men’s national team appearing to be on course for its first appearance at a FIFA World Cup finals since 1998. Colombia defeated Peru 2-0 on Tuesday to strengthen its hold on second place in the South American qualification competition.
Ignacio Borja, president of Allianz Colombia, said: “We are the leading insurer in Colombia with more than 135 years of experience. Therefore, we are committed to continuing to support the Colombians and are proud to be the official insurance partner of the Colombia team. Globally, Allianz is known for its commitment to sport and Colombia is no exception: today we are committed to ensuring the selection retains the passion of an entire country.”
The Allianz deal comes after the FCF last month extended its partnership with Adidas through to 2022. The relationship between the German sportswear giant and the FCF first began in 2011 and Adidas will now continue to supply kit for Colombia’s national teams through to the 2022 World Cup in Qatar.
