The transfer saga involving Espanyol’s Ghanaian midfielder Mubarak Wakaso could end within 24 hours.
Espanyol president Joan Collet is ready to allow the midfielder to join Rubin Kazan after the long transfer impasse.
“The transfer of Ghanaian midfielder Mubarak Wakaso to Russian club Rubin Kazan can be closed in 24 hours,” Collet told the Spanish press.
“This case can refloat shortly, provided that they accept what we negotiated. If not, it will stay.”
Espanyol and Kazan have held talks for weeks and the player has also hinted his desire to join the Russian side.
Collet hinted they are already looking for someone to fit into Wakaso’s shoes. “On the issue of Wakaso we have put a deadline, because we are going to look for a replacement.”
Wakaso who was also on the radar of Inter Milan, Juventus and Swansea was one of the club’s best players last season as they finished in mid-table. He played 26 games scored three goals and provided eight assists.
