The Magpies' goalkeeper is tipping his Netherlands team-mate to make an impact on the English top-flight, if he completes his proposed €8 million (£6.6m) move from Ajax
The 22-year-old midfielder is set to undergo a medical and discuss personal terms ahead of his proposed £6.6 million transfer from the Dutch champions and is expected to sign a five-year deal at St James' Park.
"I've played with him since the Under-15 squads," Krul told NUsport.
"I think he's ready for a move to the Premier League. His skill in the midfield and duelling is good enough for England.
"I understood he has to reach an agreement himself, but I think we can use a versatile player like him very well."
The Netherlands international, who can also play at left-back, will follow the arrivals of Romain Amalfitano, Curtis Good and Gael Bigirimana as the Magpies look to match their achievements of last season where they finished fifth in the league.
