Deulofeu eyeing Barcelona first-team after Everton loan

The Spain Under-21 international is hoping to use the experience gained on loan with the Toffees this season to cement a regular role with the Catalan club when he returns
Gerard Deulofeu is keen to improve as a player while on loan at Everton in a bid to become a first-team regular at parent club Barcelona next season.

The Spanish youngster, who moved to Goodison Park on a season-long loan deal in the summer, has yet to start in the Premier League but has made seven appearances off the bench and netted in the Capital One Cup.

The 19-year-old is not worried by his lack of game time with the Toffees and is confident that he will adapt to the rigours of English football before returning to Camp Nou a better player.

"My objective is to improve as a player and to go back to Barcelona to play for the maximum number of years possible," Deulofeu told Esports Xarxa Radio.

"Now, I am very calm about my adaptation to the Premier League. Game by game, I fulfil my mission.

"I am young and I need to work every day to obtain my targets."

Everton, currently sixth in the Premier League, take on Liverpool in the Merseyside derby on Saturday and can go level on points with the second-placed Reds should they win.
