Ghanaians abroad: Gyan, Adomah, Tetteh score & Essien banned against Arsenal

It was not a bad weekend for Ghanaian players with the likes of Gyan, Albert Adomah, Karikari and Tetteh finding the net. Goal brings you a wrap of how Ghanaian players fared


Derek Boateng was not in the Fulham team who lost 4-2 to Manchester City at the Craven Cottage. Michael Essien has been banned from the Chelsea game against Arsenal whiles Emmanuel Frimpong may sit out the game.

Elsewhere in the Championship, winger Albert Adomah Dankwah scored on the stroke of full-time for Middlesbrough in their 2-0 win over Millwall.

Striker turned-left-back Jeffrey Schulpp played 78 minutes for Leicester City who beat QPR 1-0.


Afriyie Acquah played full throttle for Parma when they held Sampdoria to a 1-1 draw.

Sulley Muntari was red-carded in a second-half stoppage-time while playing as AC Milan were pipped 1-0 by Inter Milan at the San Siro. Kingsley Boateng was an unused substitute by Catania who were humiliated 4-0 by Roma. Kwadwo Asamoah played the entire duration for Juventus in their 4-1 thrashing of Atalanta.

Both Emmanuel Agyemang-Badu and Alfred Duncan were not in their respective teams as Udinese beat Livorno 2-1. Maxwell Boadu Acosty was an unused substitute for Chievo Verona in their 4-1 away defeat to Torino.


Jordan Ayew came off the bench to help Olympique Marseille fight from behind to draw 2-2 with Bordeaux.

Jonathan Mensah was in full time action for Evian TG in their 3-1 away loss to OG Nice. Defender John Boye was out of action for Stade Rennes in their 2-1 loss to Sochaux.

In the Ligue 2, Kwame Nsor was not in the Metz team in their 1-0 win over Troyes. Dennis Appiah lasted 90 minutes for Caen as they drew 0-0 with Brest.


Kevin-Prince Boateng missed Schalke 04′s 0-0 draw at Nurnburg due to a knee injury. Ghana target Karim Bellarabi also missed Eintracht Braunschweig’s 1-0 win over Hoffenheim with injury. In the Bundesliga II, Abdul Baba Rahman played full time in Greuther Fürth's 1-0 home win over Aalen.

Charles Takyi came on in the 68th minute as his bottom side Energie Cottbus lost 0-1 away to Paderborn.


Daniel Opare was in action for leaders Standard Liege who drew 1-1 with Anderlecht. Frank Acheampong did not make the trip with Anderlecht. Bernard Yao Kumordzi played 60 minutes as Genk lost 0-1 away to Cercle Brugge.


Richmond Boakye-Yiadom played 73 minutes for Elche FC in their 1-0 home defeat to Malaga.


Defender Jerry Akaminko played full time for Eskisehirspor when they beat Gaziantepspor 2-0.
In the Lig 1, striker Kwame Amponsah Karikari scored a brace for Balikesirspor when they beat Kahramanmaraspor 3-1.

Former AshGold striker Shaibu Yakubu played for 1461 Trabzon who lost 2-3 to Istanbul BB. Torrick Jebril was not in the Trabzon team.


Aziz Tetteh was the hero as his lone goal gave Platanias victory over Panionois.


Ghana captain Asamoah Gyan scored to earn a draw for Al Ain in a 1-1 contest against Al Sharjah.


Christian Atsu lasted 73 minutes for Vitesse Arnhem when they drew 2-2 with Heracles. Edwin Gyasi and Matthew Amoah were not in the Almelo squad. Shadrach Eghan played 27 minutes for Twente Enschede in their 1-1 draw with RKC Waalwijk.

Fred Benson played fulltime for PEC Zwolle who lost 3-0 to Feyenoord. Elvis Manu was not picked by Feyenoord. Johan Kappelhof was at the heart of defence for Groningen in a 5-2 win over NEC.
