Ghanaian Players Abroad: Kingson sees red, Gyan & Clottey taste defeat in UAE, Banahene scores

There were few Ghanaian goals worldwide over the weekend, but the general output was positive. Goal Ghana brings you an extensive report on Ghanaian players abroad


Michael Essien made his first appearance of the season in the English Premier League when Chelsea thrashed West Ham United 3-0 away in the London derby. The Bull replaced Eden Hazard in the 84th minute.

Elsewhere at Craven Cottage, Fulham lost by 2-1 to Swansea with midfielder Derek Boateng playing 60 minutes. Emmanuel Frimpong was once again missing from the Arsenal squad as the Gunners beat 2-0 at the Emirates.

Youngster Hiram Boateng did not make the trip with Crystal Palace who posted a surprised 1-0 win on Hull City at the Kingston Communication Stadium. In the N. Power Championship, striker-turned-left-back Jeffrey Schlupp was an unused substitute for Leicester City who went to Portman Road to beat Ipswich Town 2-1.

Winger Albert Adomah Dankwah played full throttle for Middlesbrough who lost by two goals to one away to Leeds United at Elland Road.


Striker Maxwell Boadu Acosty played the final minute for relegation-threatened Chievo Verona who beat Hellas Verona 1-0 away. At the San Siro, Sulley Muntari played 46 minutes for Milan who drew 1-1 with visiting Genoa, Isaac Cofie was introduced in the 78th minute by the away side.

Holding midfielder Afriyie Acquah was introduced in the 75th minute by Parma who went away to beat Napoli 1-0. In the Serie B, both Moro Alhassan and Mase Welbeck were on the bench for their respective side as Brescia drew goalless with Cesena.

Wing back Kwadwo Asamoah also played 88 minutes for Juventus who defeated Livorno by two goals to nothing at the Stadio Armando Pichi. On loan midfielder Joseph Alfred Duncan was not in the Livorno team.

Emmanuel Agyemang-Badu was on the bench for Udinese in their 1-0 win over Fiorentina at the Stadio Friuli. Midfield enforcer Yussif Chibsah Raman was also left on the Sassuolo bench in their two nil win over Atalanta.

Youngster Isaac Donkor was an unused substitute for Inter who went away to draw 1-1 with Bologna.


Kevin-Prince Boateng played 89 minutes for Schalke as their leading marksman in a 3-3 away draw with Eintracht Frankfurt. Ghana target Karim Bellarabi played 90 minutes for Eintracht Braunschweig who lost by a lone goal to Freiburg.

In the Bundesliga II, Charles Takyi played the final eight minutes for Energie Cottbus who were walloped 4-1 at home by FSV Frankfurt. Marcel Appiah was an unused substitute for Arminia Bielefield who lost 2-0 to Bochum.

Holding midfielder Reinhold Yabo also played the entire duration for Karlsruher who defeated Dynamo Dresden 3-0 at the Wildpark Stadion.


At the Stade Francos Coty, Jordan Ayew was introduced in the 79th minute as Marseille beat Ajaccio 3-1. Jonathan Mensah played full time at the heart of defense for Evian who went down by four goals to nothing to Lorient.

In the Ligue 2, Kwame Nsor scored and played full time for Metz who beat Bastia 2-0.


Frank Acheampong was not in the Anderlecht squad in their 2-1 loss to Royal Charleroi. Former Heart of Lions star Abraham Kudemor was also absent on matchday.
Left-back Nana Kwasi Asare also played full time for Gent who beat Waasland Beveren 2-0 at the Ghelamco Arena. Bennard Yao Kumordzi came on in the 46th minute as Genk lost 0-4 away to KV Oostende. Daniel Opare was an unused substitute for Standard Liege who beat bottom side Mons 1-0.

Abdul Yakini Iddi played in Mechelen's 1-3 away loss to Zulte-Waregem. Jerry Vandam also played full throttle as Enock Adu Kofi continued his bench warming duties for Club Brugge in a three nil win over Lokeren.

In the Second Division, striker Kevin Tano played 76 minutes for Royal Antwerp who drew goalless with Hoogstraten. Also, at the Pierre Cornelisstadion, striker Prince Asubonteng played the entire duration for Dessel Sports who drew barren with Eendracht Aalst.


Striker Richmond Boakye Yiadom played 65 minutes for Elche who defeated Valencia 2-1.


Kwame Quansah played the entire duration for Heracles Almelo who lost by three goals to nothing to Ajax. Matthew Amoah was introduced in the 75th minute. Winger Christian Atsu played 75 minutes for Vitesse Arnheim who went away to beat Go Ahead Eagles 3-0.
Both Johan Kappelof and striker Fred Benson lasted the entire duration for their respective teams as Gronningen drew 0-0 with PEC Zwolle.

In the Erste division, winger Erixon Danso played full time for leaders FC Dordrecht who defeated Fortuna Sittard 1-0. Swedish-born Ghanaian Patrick Amoah also played 90 minutes for Sittard. Shadrach Eghan played 64 minutes for FC Twente who defeated Nac Breda 4-2. Jeffrey Sarpong played full time for Breda


Richard Kingson was red-carded in the 94th minute as Doxa drew 1-1 at home with APOEL Nicosia.

Teenager Mustapha Quaynor played the entire duration for bottom-placed Alki who drew 1-1 with Enosis. Gerome Agbo was absent from the Nea Salamis team in their 1-0 loss to Ermis.
Former King Faisal winger Enock Ebo Andoh played the last 20 minutes for AEL who defeated Apollon Limassol 1-0. Striker Carlos Ohene watched the game from the AEL bench.


Asamoah Gyan played full time for Al Ain who lost 1-0 to leaders Al Ahli. At the Hamdan Bin Zayed Stadium Emmanuel Clottey played 90 minutes for Al Dhafra who were thrashed 6-2 by Al Shabaab.


Mubarak Wakaso was not in the Rubin Kazan team who defeated Tom Tomsk 1-0. Rabiu Mohammed made a comeback into the Kuban Krassnodar team after almost one-and-half month on the sidelines by playing the last 15 minutes in their 3-1 away loss to Amkar Perm. Striker Abdul Majeed Waris was not in the Spartak Moscow team who were beaten 1-0 by CSKA in the Moscow derby.


Midfielder Alhassan Wakaso played 78 minutes for Rio Ave who lost 2-0 to Estoril. Haminu Draman did not travel with the Gil Vicente team who were defeated 3-2 by Maritimo at the Estadio De Barrieros. David Addy lasted 90 minutes for Vitoria Guimaraes who were defeated 1-0 by Sporting Lisbon.


Central defender Jerry Akaminko played 90 minutes for Eskisehirspor who were defeated 1-0 by Trabzonspor. In the Lig 1, former Ashanti Gold striker Shaibu Yakubu replaced Torric Jebrin in the 79th minute as their side 1461 Trabzn drew 1-1 with Orduspor.

Emmanuel Banahene scored in the 60th minute and lasted full time as Sanliurfaspor went away to beat Bucaspor 1-0.


Striker Samuel Afum played the last 12 minutes for Young Boys who beat Lausanne 3-2. Ishmael Yartey played full time and Ebenezer Assifuah came into the game in the 39th minute as their side FC Sion were thrashed 4-1 by Zurich.


Teenager Kwame Adzinan Yeboah scored a screamer in the 91st minute as his side Brisbane Roar defeated Western Sydney 3-1 to maintain their lead on top of the A-league.


Defender George Kwasi Semakor played full throttle for Al Gharafa who gave Umm Salal a 6-2 mauling at the Thani Bin Jassim Stadium. Fred Dabanka also played 90 minutes for Al Ahli who defeated Lekhwiya 1-0 away.

Striker Babo Seddiqi was also an unused substitute for second-placed Al Saliya who lost by a lone goal to leaders Al Jaish.
