Former Ghana Premier League outfits Great Olympics, Feyenoord and Tema Youth pushed their chances of qualification back to the top-flight league to the wire after edging past their opponents on Tuesday in the Division One Middle League Promotional Play-offs.
In Zone 2, Bibiani-based Gold Stars were handed the shock of their lives after succumbing to a 2-1 defeat against Gomoa Fetteh Feyenoord. Goals from Martin Antwi and Mumuni Zakaria did the damage although Enock Kumi pulled one back in between the goals against the run of play.
In the other group game, Dunkwa United breathed life back into their chances of qualifying after walloping Sekondi Eleven Wise 4-2 at the Accra Sports stadium. Feyenoord's win put them on top of the log with six points from two games, three points adrift of Gold Stars and Dunkwa United on second and third place respectively with just a point away to guarantee their qualification.
Meanwhile, in Zone 3, the slot for qualification has now been drawn between the wonder club Great Olympics and Tema Youth after both teams won their respective two games to set a winner takes all final game in the last round of matches.
In Zone 3, Olympics posted a 1-0 defeat to a 10-man Okwahu United at the Len Clay Stadium in Obuasi to dash the hopes of the soccer Mountaineers whiles Tema Youth walloped Istanbul from Akyem Techiman 3-0 at the Baba Yara Stadium. The last round of matches continue on Friday.
