The boss of the Berekum-based club has pointed accusing fingers at referees for the poor form of his club
The CEO of Berekum Chelsea Nana Kwame Nketiah believes poor refereeing in their games against Medeama and Aduana Stars, both of which ended in 1-1 draws, and last Sunday’s 1-0 loss to Hearts of Oak in Accra has really cost his club.
He said referees are bent on ensuring they lose their games.
“The bonuses have not been reduced; we still pay the same bonuses for home and away matches. The performances of the players are still at a very high level. It’s just that some referees don’t want us to win,” Nketiah told Graphic Sports.
“In Berekum, Referee E. R. Biney and one of his assistants denied us our three points against Medeama by disallowing a clean goal. Against Aduana Stars, Referee Patrick Kyeremanteng also denied us a winning goal, and against Heats we got a late equalizer which was disallowed by Referee Cecil Fleischer for no apparent reason.”
Nketiah added: “In line with rebuilding our squad, we released some senior players and promoted quality players from our youth set-up in order to maintain some continuity and launch an assault for the league title.”
Berekum Chelsea play as host to New Edubiase at Berekum Golden City Park on Sunday.
