The midfielder has been adjudged as the best performer in the Ghana Premier League for the month of June
The Ghana Premier League board judging panel has named West African Football Academy (Wafa) midfielder Zakaria Mumuni as Player of the Month for June.
The 18-year-old’s outstanding performance did not go unnoticed after scoring three consecutive goals to help his side win two out of five games played in the month under review.
Wafa have enjoyed a wonderful season after making a return to the top flight league. They are third on the log with 33 points, seven adrift of leaders Ashantigold with nine matches more to end the season.
Mumuni joins past winners Gilbert Fiamenyo (January), Noah Martey (February), Nathaniel Asamoah (March) and Bernard Ofori (May).
New Edubiase FC manager Anthony Kommey was named best manager of the month, after guiding his team to record two wins, two draws and one defeat in the month of June. He amassed eight points out of 15 and moved his side out of the relegation battle to 13th on the log.
Kommey’s heroics included an away win over champions Asante Kotoko with 10-men at the Baba Yara stadium and a 1-0 win over Medeama.
Mumuni and Kommey have received their prize money of 500 Ghana Cedis (€120) from the league’s title sponsor First Capital Plus Bank.
