Pirates explain Dauda, Itoua non-league registration

The South African outfit has revealed why the Ghana first-choice goalkeeper was not registered initially for the PSL
Orlando Pirates have revealed why Ghana international goalkeeper Fatau Dauda and Congolese defender Beranger Itoua were not registered for the league this season.

After coach Roger de Sa confirmed both signings, many were surprised their names were missing on the latest list of registered players, released by the Premier Soccer League last week.

“Dauda’s registration request has been forwarded to Safa, with the club now waiting for Safa to complete it,” Pirates administrative manager Floyd Mbele confirmed.

“The most important thing is that registration request was done before the transfer window closed – that is what matters.”

With Ghana on the verge of qualifying for the 2014 Brazil World Cup, Dauda’s position as the first-choice goalkeeper will be seriously under threat if he does not cement a permanent place at club level.
