Canada 0-1 Ghana: Black Princesses down host in World Cup opener

A first half goal was all the Princesses needed to bag all three points in their tournament opener

Ghana’s Black Princesses have begun their 2014 FIFA U20 WWC on a very bright note after posting a 1-0 victory over the host nation, Canada.

Sherifatu Sumaila grabbed the lone goal in the 22nd minute after she was set up by defender, Edem Atovor.

Bashir Hayford’s girls remained resolute after the early goal to ensure all three points were collected at the end of the match.

Ghana are second in Group A behind Korea DPR who defeated Finland 2-1 in the Group A opener.

The Black Princesses are chasing their first qualification to the second round after two previous failed attempts.

They will take on former champions, Korea DPR in the next group match on Friday.
