The former Fulham guardsman could be playing in the South African top-flight this season as he trains with the Chilli Boys
Ghana defender John Paintsil could be joining PSL side Chippa United after spending last season at Santos.
The veteran guardsman is said to be training with the Chilli Boys after agreeing a deal with them.
According to KickOff, the former Fulham rearguard is certain to join the elite division side this season.
“I was there yesterday and he was already training with the team. I’m told they are signing him,” the site quoted a source.
Early on, SuperSport reported that Paintsil is still in talks with Santos to extend his contract.
Chief Executive Officer Edries Burton said: “We are still talking to him and hopefully we can come to an agreement, but we will have to see what happens.”
The 33-year-old guardsman joined Santos after a successful spell in Europe in a one year contract and became an integral part of the People's Team in a bid to secure promotion back to the South Africa top-flight. Paintsil made 88 appearance for Ghana and has played in two World Cups [2006 and 2010].
