AshantiGold handed one-season MTN FA Cup ban

The Miners will not take part in next season’s MTN FA Cup after attracting a one-year ban from the Ghana FA’s disciplinary committee

The disciplinary committee of the Ghana Football Association has handed a one –year MTN FA Cup ban to AshantiGold.

The Miners were found guilty on three counts of misconduct after they failed to turn up for their quarter-final game against Asante Kotoko at the Accra Sports Stadium on April 13, 2014.

Ashgold have been fined US$1800 for not attending the pre-match technical meeting, failure to honour the match without prior consent and approval from the Ghana FA, and bringing the game into disrepute.

The Obuasi based club have also been asked to refund to the Ghana FA an amount of US$ 350 as costs incurred for policing on the day.

Kotoko had a walk-over and went ahead to beat King Faisal in the semi-finals. The Porcupine Warriors will take on Inter Allies in the final on June 8, 2014 at the Accra Sports Stadium.
