Ghana international striker Mahatma Otoo scored his fifth league goal of the season with a well rehearsed scissor-like strike to help Sogndal defeat FK Brann 2-1.
The 22-year-old striker who is a standby in Ghana's provisional squad poked Sogndal's noses in front in the sixth minute after perfectly connecting Azar Karadas' cross to break the game's virginity before team-mate Petter Strand added another with a minute remaining to end the first half of the game.
Jakob Orlov pulled one back for FK Brann in the 49th minute in the Norwegian top-flight league on Tuesday but Sogndal held on to victory at the Fosshaugane Stadion. The ex-Hearts captain was replaced in the 93rd minute by Tim Nilsen.
Otoo has scored five goals in the Norwegian Tippeligaen and is counting on his fine form for Sogndal coupled with a last minute luck to gatecrash into the final 23-man squad to represent Ghana at the World Cup.
