Orlando Pirates top Twitter log in Africa

According to analysis from communications firm Portland, counting over 9 million posts for a year, the results show how soccer dominates Twitter in Africa
Even during the passing away of late, former South African President Dr Nelson Mandela on 5 December 2013, soccer remained the most popular subject on Twitter, while Orlando Pirates were the most tweeted club in the whole of Africa.

The city of Johannesburg also posted the most, ahead of Ekurhuleni and Cairo in Africa. Though, Egyptian club Al Ahly won't be having any sleepless nights over the Twitter competition, after beating Bucs in the Caf Champions League Final.

Both teams rise to the final of Africa's premier competition probably had something to do with Pirates high statistics. For 2014 it is Bucs' rivals Kaizer Chiefs who are participating in Caf, as the reigning PSL champions.

So at the end of this year, one would have to wait to see if the AmaKhosi can rival Pirates on the field and in the social media table.
