Ghana slip in Africa but hop in Fifa world rankings

The four-time African champions occupy the 35th position worldwide, but finished fifth in Africa behind Cape Verde, Algeria, Egypt and Ivory Coast

Ghana have moved two places up the Fifa world ranking table for the month of March.

The Black Stars are now at the 35th position in the overall ranking but stuttered on the continental ratings.

Ghana who were fourth in the previous month have slipped to the fifth spot in Africa. Ghana lost their recent pre-World Cup friendly game against Montenegro.

Ivory Coast continue to reign in Africa with Algeria, Egypt and Cape Verde following in that order.

Spain are still at the number one spot as Germany and Argentina occupy the second and third positions respectively.

The March edition of the rankings took into account a total of 67 matches of which 57 were friendlies. The other 10 games were AFC Asian Cup qualifiers.
