Medeama snatch Helegbe from Kotoko

The midfielder is set to be unveiled this week by the Mauves and Yellows as they look forward to strengthen their setup ahead of the Caf Confederation Cup

Asante Kotoko midfielder Michael Helegbe has joined Medeama for the second round of the Ghana Premier League.

The former Black Meteors captain has featured only three times for the Porcupine Warriors this season and has fallen out with coach Mas-Ud Didi Dramani.

Helegbe who joined the Ghana Premier League defending champions from Liberty Professionals in the second half of the 2011 campaign failed to renew his contract with the club due to contractual disagreements between both parties.

According to Radio XYZ, the player was willing to play for only one more year while Kotoko were looking at a two-year deal.

The influential midfielder who played a key role in the club’s title defense last season has since agreed to join the Mauves and Yellows for the second round of the Premier League season.

The former Guingamp player is set to bolster the Medeama squad for next season’s Caf Confederation Cup.

The Tarkwa lads are expected to unveil the player within the week after his medicals. Helegbe becomes the second Kotoko player to join them after Kofi Agyare’s move last week.
