The Ghana international netted twice for Middlesbrough in their 3-2 defeat to Barnsley on Saturday
Ghana international Albert Adomah netted a double as Middlesbrough went down 3-2 at bottom club Barnsley.
The Smoggies’ abysmal first half showing saw the hosts take a 3-0 lead into the break at the Oakwill Stadium through goals from Paddy McCourt, Chris O’Grady and Jim O’Brien.
Adomah, who was signed from Bristol City during the summer, reduced the deficit when he volleyed in Smallwood’s knockdown in the 83rd minute before he headed in from Frazer Richardson’s cross a minute later to make it an interesting final few minutes.
Boro could have shared the points with Barnsley as George Friend’s goal-bound header deflected out while Gambian midfielder Mustapha Carayol and Smallwood also went close in quick succession in the final minutes of the game.
