PSV’s Memphis Depay happy with Ghana snub

The rising attacker is happy to be in the Dutch national team although he had an option to play for the Black Stars
PSV young striker Memphis Depay is happy and proud to be in the Dutch national team with greats like Robin Van Persie, Arjen Robben and Wesley Sneijder.

The 19-year-old who is of Ghanaian and Dutch parentage has been called-up by coach Louis Van Gaal for the World Cup qualifier against Hungary and Turkey on Tuesday.

"Of course it's special for me,” Depay said to the Telegraaf. “With such big names in the field, all the young players are really good. However, those playing at the top make a difference as Van Persie and Nigel de young.”
Although Van Gaal indicated that Depay is certainly a rising star for the future, the player is full of confidence and looking forward to get a permanent place in the team.

“I am very proud to be in the Dutch team, being a star for the future is really a good thing to hear since it gives me the extra push,” he added.

Depay had an option to play for Ghana, but opted for Netherlands.
