I’m learning from Madrid star Cristiano Ronaldo, says Ghana prospect Depay

The Dutch player of Ghanaian descent has revealed his love for the Real Madrid star and admits he is learning to play like him
Ghana hopeful Memphis Depay has stated that he idolises Real Madrid and Portuguese forward Cristiano Ronaldo.

The 19-year-old winger-cum-striker curled a fantastic free kick from 25 yards into the net on Saturday as his side PSV Eindhoven beat Go Ahead Eagles 3-0 in the Eredivisie.

“I look closely at Ronaldo and I am learning all the things he does,” Depay told Elffootball.

“He shoots his free kick just a bit better than I do. Ronaldo is a world footballer; I take a good look, because I also target the highest.”

“I often train at such free kicks. There's also no secret, it is a matter of practice as practice makes a man perfect,” Depay added. “The keeper had gone already left and so he was late. That's the idea. Such a ball, you do not shoot at them to score necessarily in the far corner.”

Despite playing for the Dutch national Under-21 team, the 19-year-old who is on the radar of coach Kwesi Appiah can still play for Ghana at senior level.
