The Phobian striker has been tipped to win the best player of the season award ahead of the Professional League Board’s awards
Coach Yussif Abubakar has tipped Hearts of Oak skipper Mahatma Otoo to win the Most Valuable Player of the 2012-13 Ghana Premier League season.

The former Berekum Chelsea assistant helmsman said Otoo stood out among the lot after banging in 20 goals to grab the goal king gong.

“l will be disappointed if Mahatma do not win the Premier League Player of  the Year award,” Abubakar underscored to Accra-based Asempa FM. “I’m  not  saying  this because l worked  with  him at  Hearts of Oak.”

He added: “But if you look at  the way he and his colleagues lifted Hearts, who were suddenly threatened in the first round  from the relegation zone to place fifth he really stands tall among his colleagues.”

Abubakar was full of praise for the striker’s tactical discipline, adding “I’m not  surprised he is now part of the Black Stars.”

He also applauded Hearts of Oak coach David Duncan, league winner Didi Dramani and Professor Mintah of Dwarfs  for their outstanding performance on the pitch throughout the season.
