Free State Stars eye Ghana goalkeeper Agyei

The South African club is excited about young Ghanaian goalkeeper Daniel Agyei to bolster their squad
South African side Free State Stars have targeted Liberty Professionals goalkeeper Daniel Agyei to beef up their squad.

The 23-year-old caught the eye of the PSL side after impressing in the Ghana Premier League and his regular call-ups with the Black Stars, and they could not resist the temptation to follow-up with an offer.

A source inside Stars confirmed to Goal that there are negotiations taking place with the capital-based side in Ghana, for the talented goalkeeper’s signature.

"Yes, there are talks but nothing is firm at this stage. It will depend on his club, but I can confirm that negotiations are in place for Agyei to join us,” said the source.

Agyei, who had trials with French Ligue 1 outfit Evian Thonon Galliard in 2012, was on his way to fulfilling his dream of playing for the French club, but saw the purported move collapse due to a disagreement between his parent club and Evian.

Agyei was part of the Ghana U20 team that won the U20 FIFA World Cup in 2009 in Egypt and became a Ghana international months later after his sterling efforts.
