I will welcome a starting role for Ghana, says Otoo

The in-form Phobian captain has served notice he will seize any opportunity that comes his way as a member of the Black Stars’ squad for the World Cup qualifiers
Hearts of Oak striker Mahatma Otoo says he will welcome a starting role if he is picked to start in any of Ghana’s 2014 double header World Cup qualifiers against Sudan and Lesotho.

The Phobian skipper has been in an excellent scoring form, netting 17 times in the ongoing Ghana Premier League and currently tops the goal scoring chart.

Black Stars coach Kwesi Appiah named the 22-year-old as part of his 25-man squad for the double qualifiers against Sudan on Friday and Lesotho on June 16 at Maseru.

“I won't be surprised. I think by God's Grace everything is going on well locally. I have been doing well in the local league so I wouldn’t be surprised if I gain a first team call-up,” Otoo told Joy FM.

“I just need to be focused so that when the time comes, I take the opportunity and deliver.”

Otoo is competing with Asamoah Gyan, Dominic Adiyiah and Richmond Boakye-Yiadom at the striking department of the team.
