The coach of the former Ghana league champions said they are on the verge of clinching their second league title after opening a three-point lead
The head coach of Chelsea, Hans Van der Pluym, said they are not relying on the generosity or misfortune of any club to win their second league title.
Major contenders Asante Kotoko and Medeama split points in midweek after a 0-0 draw game at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium. Berekum Chelsea beat Tema Youth 2-1 to extend their lead.
Speaking after the game on Wednesday, coach Pluym patted his charges on the back and noted the win reinvigorates their confidence ahead of their tie with Hearts of Oak.
“It’s good Kotoko drew, but we are not dependent on any opponent to win the league,” the Dutchman told Goal Ghana. “Our match against Hearts comes with a lot of confidence with our three-point lead.”
Chelsea and Hearts will lock horns on Matchday 26 in a game that could shape up their title chase.
