Hearts striker Mahatma otoo not on our radar, says Kotoko boss KK Sarpong

The Porcupine Warriors have served notice they will only zoom in on the in-form striker of the Phobians if he shows interest in joining them when his contract expires
The Executive Chairman of Asante Kotoko Dr KK Sarpong has ruled out making a move for Hearts of Oak’s in-demand forward Mahatma Otoo.

Otoo is the current leading scorer of the Ghana Premier League with 13 goals and will be out of contract at the end of the season with no real commitment from him in signing a new deal with the Oak Tree.

Teams like Mamelodi Sundowns of South Africa, English Premier League side Sunderland and French Ligue 1’s Olympique Lyon are all reported to be interested in the former Sporting Mirren forward.

Dr Sarpong said the Porcupine Warriors are not ready to clash with their bitter rivals over Otoo, but will be ready to sign him if the 21-year-old expresses interest in playing for them.

“Otoo is not on my radar at this stage; he is a property of Hearts of Oak so I can’t discuss him further,” Dr Sarpong told Kumasi-based Metro FM.

“I don’t even know him but every good player in this country is a potential Kotoko signing.”

He added: “We are an attractive club and will be ready to sign him on if he is interested in playing for us; we understand he has a few months to end his contract with them.”

Otoo will be in action for the Phobians against Kotoko this Sunday in the Ghana version of El Clasico at the Accra Sports Stadium.
