The winners of the knockout tournament in Ghana last season could not travel far in their maiden outing in Africa
The Ghana FA Cup holders went down 5-4 on penalties in Brazzaville on Saturday after the second-leg tie ended 1-0 in favour of the home side in regulation time.
The score line meant the two teams were locked 1-1 on aggregate since the first-leg ended the same as the second, but in favour of the Ghanaian debutants.
The Ghanaians ended the fixture with 10 men on the field when Mahmoud Suleman saw red in the second half.
Edubiase’s Abdul Rahman and striker Adams Basit missed their kicks during the shoot out making a save by goalkeeper Eric Nii Baah insignificant.
This is the first time Edubiase are making it to a major tournament on the continent.
