2013 Afcon mistakes won’t affect my career - Ghana's Akaminko
The Ghana defender says he has picked up vital lessons from his unimpressive showing at the Africa Cup of Nations
Ghana and Eskisehirspor defender Jerry Akaminko has reiterated that his 2013 Afcon flop will not have any bearing on his future performance.
Akaminko was one of the many players that made their debut for Ghana at the 2013 Africa Cup of Nations.
In the absence of first choice center-back Isaac Vorsah due to injury during Ghana's first Group B game, Akaminko was given that task, but did little to prevent DR Congo from leveling Ghana’s early 2-0 lead.
The 24-year-old who scored for his Turkish club in their 2-2 draw with Istanbul BBSK believes the Afcon experience will only make him a better player moving forward.
“I always work hard wherever I find myself. I’m not perfect, I’m a learner so I’m bound to make mistakes anytime but the good thing is to learn from your mistakes, master it to help keep you going," Akaminko told Mtnfootball.
“It was a great experience at the Afcon but I don’t think it can have any effect on my career. This will only make me a great player and make my dream come true.”
