Liberty goalkeeper Daniel Agyei refuses to blame referee for his side's draw with Kotoko
The 23-year-old Liberty Professionals captain says his side deserved victory against the Porcupine Warriors on Sunday
Liberty Professionals goalkeeper Daniel Agyei has refused to blame match referee S.B Bortey for his side's draw at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium in Kumasi, although he believes the late penalty awarded to Asante Kotoko was untenable.
The Dansoman-based side held the Porcupine Warriors to a 3-3 draw in an exciting encounter of match day-16 of the Ghana Premier League.
The defending champions had a late goal from the spot to rescue a point in front of their home fans.
The Black Stars shot-stopper believes Liberty Professionals deserved to pick all three points in Kumasi.
“I am disappointed that we did not win," Agyei told Kumasi-based Fox FM. "Because we beat them 3-2 last time here, and so we were expecting to repeat the dose.”
“The referee is human like me and he can make a mistake. So I don’t want to blame him, even though in my view, that was not a penalty."
