The Black Stars guardsman helped The Red and Blacks to draw with fellow French Ligue 1 contenders Sochaux in a 2-2 draw game
Ghana defender John Boye opened the scoring for his club side Stade Rennes in their 2-2 draw with Sochaux in the French Ligue 1 on Saturday evening.
Boye was making his first appearance for The Red and Blacks after returning from the Africa Cup of Nations in South Africa, where he played in all of Ghana games.
The 25-year-old jumped so high to meet Julien Feret set piece cross to equalise for Rennes with a very close range header after Giovanni Sio has put Sochaux in the lead on the 21st minute.
The match, however, ended in a draw after Jean Makuon was at hand to recue Rennes from defeat with the second equaliser on the 88th minute after Sébastien Corchia had restored Sochaux’ lead on the 56th minute.
That goal was Boye’s first goal of the season and his second club career goal for Stade Rennes.
Compatriot John Mensah did not make the bench for Stade Rennes whilst Ismael Yartey also did not make the cut with Sochaux for this match.
