The enterprising striker has secured a move to another Korean League side Daegu FC for a one-year period

South Korean giants Daegu FC have signed Ghana international winger Derek Asamoah.

The former Asante Kotoko player agreed a one-year contract with the Korean top flight side.

Asamoah’s speed, impersonations, and a resilient body breakthrough of the opponent’s defense, and a sharp cross-ability helped in contributing to the big success story of Pohang Steelers.

The former OGC Nice player thanked his family and his former club Pohang Steelers for the support throughout the years.

“As I enter into this new team with excitement and even some anxiety, I recall your deep compassion, presence, and abounding love. I thank you for the gifts, talents and skills with which you have blessed me with. I thank you for the experiences that have brought me to this moment,” Asamoah posted on his Facebook page.

“Big thanks to my ex-team mates and a special thanks to Pohang fans for making my time there great,” he added.

The 31-year-old, widely considered one of the best attacking players in the K- league, scored over 13 goals, six assists in 61 appearances since joining Pohang in 2011 winning the Most Valuable Player that same year.
