RTU will escape relegation – Fatawu Mohammed

The midfielder is encouraging his team-mates to remain positive as they go into the second round of the GPL and has called on management to right some wrongs

On-loan Kumasi Asante Kotoko midfielder to Real Tamale United, Fatawu Mohammed has expressed optimism the Pride of the North will survive relegation.

Mohammed said he is ready to help the team to move from the drop zone.

Real Tamale United have had the worst ever campaign in the history of the Ghanaian top flight league after the team could only draw five matches out of 15 games to occupy the bottom of the league log with just five points at the end of the first round thus making their chances of staying up in the league very difficult.

Mohammed told Goal.com Ghana he has joined the team to help them fight for their premier league status and he is very confident they will escape relegation at the end of the league.

“I decided to join RTU to help them in their relegation battle and also to get more playing time for myself because in the first round I was virtually inactive due to an injury, however, playing for RTU will help me battle my way back into the fold of Kotoko next season,” Mohammed noted.

According to him, it will take a great deal of work for RTU to stay up in the league, but he is optimistic the team can still be among the top flight clubs next season, if they can win at least 10 matches out of the 15 games.

“It’s actually difficult when you look at it but I think with hard work and also the management correcting the wrongs they did in the first round, I am very sure we will escape relegation this season.”

The Pride of the North will start the second round of the league on Saturday with a home tie against Amidaus Professionals at the Obuasi Len Clay Sports Stadium due to their home match ban.
