I don’t trust Black Stars medical doctor - Former Asante Kotoko’s Hans Dieter Schmidt
The German-born coach is not convinced with the explanation given by the team doctor over injuries in the Ghana camp during the 2013 Afcon, saying the doctor can't be trusted
Former Asante Kotoko coach Hans Dieter Schmidt believes personnel of the Black Stars medical team at the 2013 Africa Cup of Nations were incompetent.
Striker Richmond Boakye-Yiadom did not kick a ball during the tournament and Black Stars team doctor, Adamu Baba revealed on Friday that the striker’s involvement in a table tennis match ahead of the Afcon aggravated his ankle injury he picked up during the team’s training tour in Abu Dhabi.
But the German trainer, who guided the Porcupine Warriors to the 2004 Caf Confederations Cup final loss to Hearts of Oak in Kumasi, is furious over those comments.
“It is not a problem to play table tennis in the resting time. It is active resting,” Schmidt told SuperSport.
“I don't trust this doctor. How can the player trust him in the future? He is only a spice and talking too much.”
