The football governing body has promised to financially aide the FA Cup holders to participate in their maiden outing in Africa

The Ghana Football Association has jumped to the rescue of New Edubiase following an earlier decision by the club’s management to opt out of the Caf Confederations Cup.

The new development means the Bekwai-based club will participate in their maiden continental tournament after several weeks of doubts.

Management of the club had earlier considered pulling out of the competition due to financial difficulties, just three days to their continental campaign against Congolese side Dables Noirs.

Edubiase must cough out close to $120, 000 for the two-legged tie and will also need over two million dollars for the group stages.

Speaking to XYZSports, the vice president of the FA Cup holders, Alex Ackummey, said the football governing body has assured to assist them financially. He also described the initiative by the FA as a commendable one.

“Finally the FA has given an assurance that they would support us so we are playing on Sunday,” Ackummey said.

The FA Cup champions faced at least a three-year ban from continental football if they had pulled out from the inter-club competition on the continent.
