Black Stars must pacify Ghanaians by qualifying for 2014 World Cup - Afriyie Ankrah
The new minister of sports feels the only way the Afcon fourth-placed team can appease Ghanaians is by qualifying for the global football fiesta in Brazil next year
The newly-appointed Minister of Youth and Sports Elvis Afriyie Ankrah has cautioned the technical team of the Black Stars not to relax, but rather plan ahead to ensure that Ghana qualify for next year's World Cup in Brazil.According to him, Ghanaians are downhearted and not pleased with the team and the technical bench as a whole and the only way to pacify the whole nation is to ensure qualification.
"The next three World Cup qualifiers starting from next month's game against Sudan is very crucial and a must win game," he told Asempa FM.
"There is no reason for them to fail the whole nation again, now everybody is down, the only compensation is for Appiah and his men to qualify us to the World Cup, anything less than that is strongly unacceptable."
Ghana placed fourth in the just ended Africa Cup of Nations tournament in South Africa and the country's next major assignment is a home match with Sudan in the Brazil 2014 World Cup qualifiers.
