The former Ghana player is saddened and surprised by comments of the former Ghana FA boss who is already calling for the dismissal of the Black Stars coach
According to the former chairman of the nation’s football governing body, the coach was technically bankrupt leading to Ghana’s loss to the Stallions of Burkina Faso in the semi-final.
But the former Ghana striker sees such comments as very unfortunate and negative.
“The tournament hasn’t even ended and you are calling for a coach to be sacked? What has Nyaho-Tamakloe done in Ghana football to be calling for the head of Kwesi Appiah, is he the person who brought football to Ghana?” Arhinful asked in an interview with Goal.com Ghana.
“Every time Nyaho-Tamakloe is saying this or that, but apart from some years back in the 80s when he changed players and brought in new once to Hearts of Oak, what has he done again for Ghana football to be passing such negative comments.
“Ghanaians shouldn’t be encouraging people like that who are always negative towards issues.”
Arhinful went ahead to urge the FA to do a SWOT analysis after the tournament to fashion out the way forward as the 2014 World Cup qualifiers start next month.
“Coaching is not an easy job so if somebody is coaching, you have to respect him for that and for me personally, I won’t advocate for Kwesi Appiah’s sacking because another coach will come and there will be the same call for his sacking.
“There are a lot of things to be discussed rather than wanting the coach’s removal; the whole team didn’t perform well not the coach,” Arhinful noted.
