The largest opposition party in Ghana has saluted the senior national team for reaching the last-four zone and has encouraged them to bring the Afcon trophy homeThe opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP) has congratulated the Black Stars of Ghana “for their outstanding performance, sportsmanship and successes chalked so far” at the 2013 Afcon.
Ghana are in the semi-final scheduled to take place on Wednesday with Burkina Faso at the Mbombela Stadium in Nelspruit. The Black Stars outshone the Blue Sharks of Cape Verde to reach the last-four after a 2-0 win.
The major opposition party has patted the team on the back for uniting the nation with their exploits in the Rainbow Nation and has urged them to go for the ultimate.
“Football has always united us as a nation, and this is no exception. We urge the national team to fight on and bring the Cup home.
“We wish the Stars well in their upcoming games, and also urge all Ghanaians to show commitment and support for them to achieve more laurels and continue to stand tall on the continent of Africa and beyond,” the statement added.
