Renowned Italian coach Claudio Ranieri will hone the magnificent football talent of young Ghanaian midfielder Derek Appiah after he moved from Napoli to Monaco on a two-and-a-half-year deal.

The deal which was finalised on transfer deadline day has seen the 18-year-old move to France as he aims at getting more playing time and building himself for a place in the Ghana national Under-20 team.

Appiah who is owned by Ghanaian Fifa player agent Oliver Arthur moved to Napoli during last summer from Tema-based Amidaus Professionals and quickly established himself in the midfield of the Prima Vera side of the Naples-based club, but could not break into the first team though he was the darling boy of senior team coach Walter Mazzari. Ghana understands that Ranieri who has seen Appiah’s huge talent is very optimistic that he can help them in their quest to qualify back to Ligue 1.
