Emmanuel Frimpong’s new club Fulham recovered from a 4-1 defeat to Manchester United in the FA Cup to beat West Ham 3-1 in the English Premier League on Wednesday. Frimpong was an unused substitute.

In England’s League One, Abdul Osman was booked for the 5th time this season as Crewe Alexandra lost 3-1 at AFC Bournemouth.

In England’s League Two, Kevin Amankwaah did not play for an Exeter City side that lost 1-0 at home to Torquay United.

William Tiero warmed the bench as his side Gil Vicente lost 5-0 at Porto while David Addy saw full action in Vitória Guimarães’s 1-1 draw at Sporting CP.

Striker Emmanuel Osei Banahene scored the only goal of the game in Karşıyaka’s 1-0 win over Şanlıurfaspor.

Former Accra Hearts of Oak defender Karim Alhassan was replaced before half time but his side Adana Demirspor managed to beat Göztepe 2-0.

Torric Jebrin’s 1461 Trabzon won 4-0 away at Konyaspor.


In the Serie A, Kevin-Prince Boateng saw full action in Milan’s 1-0 over Atalanta while his Ghanaian team-mate Sulley Muntari was an unused substitute. Amidu Salifu did not play but Catania managed to beat an Aquilani-less Fiorentina 2-1.

Midfielder Isaac Cofie saw full action in Chievo’s 1-0 win over SS Lazio while teenager Caleb Ekuban was on Chievo’s bench.

In Serie B, Masahudu Alhassan saw full action in Novara’s 2-0 win over Empoli while Ramon Chibsah’s Sassuolo lost 2-1 to Crotone.

Yaw Asante did not feature for bottom side Grosseto who recorded a rare victory over Cittadella.

Alfred Duncan, on loan from Inter Milan, played the last 10 minutes for Livorno in 0-0 draw at Padova. 

In La Liga, Mohammed Abu was as an unused substitute as Rayo Vallecano beat Real Betis 3-0. Michael Essien saw full action as Mourinho’s boys thrashed Getafe 4-0 in the Madrid derby. Also, in the El Clasico on Wednesday, he caused real danger down the wing with his powerful running from deep. He defended decently, for the most part, but struggled to establish a rhythm with Carvalho.

In Spain’s Segunda Division, goalkeeper Razak Brimah conceded two late goals as his side Guadalajara lost 2-0 at Girona.
The Ayew brothers - Andre and Jordan - scored for the second successive week as Olympique Marseille and Rennes drew 2-2. The brothers scored a goal each last weekend to help Marseille record a 3-2 win over Montpellier.

Elsewhere, Ishmael Yartey was an unused substitute for a Sochaux side that beat Reims 1-0.

Newly-signed TSG Hoffenheim player Afriyie Acquah was on the bench as his side lost 2-1 at Eintracht Frankfurt. Acquah joined from Serie A side Palermo who had loaned him out to Parma.

Youngster Baba Abdul Rahman saw full action as his side Greuther Fürth suffered a 3-0 loss at the hands of Mainz 05.


Defender Daniel Opare returned to the substitute bench for Standard Liège for the first time in three months after recovering from injury. The Liège side beat Kortrijk 2-0.

Attacker Abdul Yakinu-Iddi scored a last-gasp winner for KV Mechelen as they beat Bernard Kumordzie’s Genk 2-1 on Saturday. Kumordzie was an unused substitute.

Ibrahim Ayew and Richard Ofori played 90 minutes as Lierse lost 2-0 at Zulte-Waregem.

Enoch Adu Kofi made his Club Brugge debut in a 0-0 draw against Gent. The midfielder joined from Denmark’s Nordsjælland.


In the Eredivisie, Kwame Quansah was part of a Heracles Almelo side that lost 5-1 to PSV Eindhoven.

Striker Fred Benson lasted 65 minutes on the pitch in PEC Zwolle’s 1-1 draw against SC Heerenveen at the IJsseldelta Stadion in Zwolle.  

FC Utrecht skipper Nana Akwasi Asare saw full time action for FC Utrecht as they beat Willem II 3-1.



In the Ligat ha'Al, Osei Mawuli’s  Ironi Kiryat Shmona drew 0-0 against Ashdod. Kwah William Owusu scored in Hapoel Kfar Saba’s 1-1 draw at Hakoah Ramat Gan.

Ibraham Bassit came on in the second half but he could not rescue his side Hapoel Nazareth Illit in 2-0 league loss.


In Cyprus 1 Division, Shaibu Yakubu’s Enosis drew 0-0 at Apollon while Yusif Rahman was on the bench in Alki’s drew 2-2 against Doxa.

Gerome Agbo saw full action as his side Nea Salamis lost 1-0 at home to Carlos Ohene’s AEL. Ohene came on in the 90th minute but Ebo Andoh was an unused substitute.


Evans Quao and Yusif Yakubu both started as Mumbai drew 0-0 with league leaders Churchill Brothers United.
