The Sports Writers Association of Ghana (SWAG) has nominated Kwadwo Asamoah, Emmanuel Clottey and Andre Ayew to contest the 2012 Footballer of the Year Award.

The Olympique Marseille left-footed player would have to fend off competition from the Juventus midfielder and Esperance striker in order to retain the title that he won in 2011.

The awards ceremony will take place in June, a statement from SWAG said.

Coach of the National Under-17 team, the Black Maidens, Mas-Ud Didi Dramani is going for the Coach of the Year award, for guiding the team to win bronze medal at the Fifa Women U17 Tournament, whilst the team was nominated as the National Team of the Year, with Priscilla Okyere nominated for the Female Footballer of the Year.

Ghana Premier League side Berekum Chelsea’s exploits in the Caf Champions League gained recognition as the Club of the Year.
