The Under-17 coach of Bayer Leverkusen Sebastian Barnes has called on Ghanaians to remain calm and throw all their weight behind Black Stars coach Kwesi Appiah to deliver the Africa Cup of Nations trophy.
He said the west Africa nation needs to respect the coach’s selection and rally behind him to succeed at his major tournament since taking over the affairs of the national team.
“I don’t think anyone knows better than Appiah,” the former Black Starlets captain told Goal.com Ghana. “Assuming he took a different set of players, people will have also complained the same way.”
“This is the best we have and we must rally behind him,” he added.
Barnes said: “He has studied all the players Ghana have and has come out with the best; Ghanaians should stop criticising him and rather back him.”
Barnes, who played a pivotal role as the Black Stars won the Italy 1990 U17 world Cup, is very optimistic that the coach will prove his critics wrong by going for the ultimate.
