The former Real Sociedad player becomes the third coaching casualty in the Ghanaian top flight this season after Accra Hearts of Oak sacked C.K Akunnor while Steven Abugri suffered the same fate at King Fasial.
Acheampong led the team to finish second in the league and to the final of the Ghana FA cup last season after taking over mid-way through the 2011-2012 season.
However, the Miners who lie sixth on the 2012-2013 league table have dropped vital points this season which obviously has irked the fans.
Former Ghana international, Kofi Amoako, has been asked to step in as an interim head coach.
