The former Asante Kotoko coach has criticised the referee who handled their game against Platinum Stars seeing his attitude as a ploy to weaken his side in the PSLMaritzburg United's head coach Ernst Middendorp has launched a stinging attack on referee Victor Gomez for sending off Ghanaian defender Awal Mohammed in their game against Platinum stars.
"The red card to Awal was a deliberate attempt to weaken our side by Gomez, he did not deserve even a yellow card in the tackle," Middendorp told the club's official website.
"I do not know why he always wants to officiate our matches; the red card to Awal was his third to us in our last two games he has officiated"
Middendorp said: "They don’t want any team to break the monopoly of Orlando Pirates and Kaizer Chiefs so they will always do things to bring your team down."
The coach, who has previously handled Ghanaian sides Kumasi Asante Kotoko and Accra Hearts of Oak, was however full of praise for Mohammed describing the former Gomoah Fetteh Feyenoord and Porcupine Warriors player as the best defender in the Premier Soccer League currently.
